Human beings have the privilege to have an efficient mind to get the fullest reflection of Supreme Consciousness. But essentially it is the unit form of the Supreme. It is unilateral and functions under the jurisdiction of relative factors.
The human mind is by nature extroverted. It is always being diverted towards the objects of attraction which gives one pleasure. The extroverted tendencies of mind may help sustain the existence of physical and crude psychic plains but they never help in bringing about inner peace and satisfaction. Human search for eternity and bliss remains an abstract far to achieve by means of material pursuits of acquisition. It goes on ever changing and ultimately one becomes tired and dejected for not getting the cherished objective of the subjective goal in life.
The thirst for peace and bliss and search for an efficient mechanism to attain it, has been the sole pursuit of humans since it achieved a considerable degree of psychic development. We can conjure the annals of history up that in every civilization, people have developed some or other faith(may be blind faith) and practices to pacify their mind believing in some supernatural powers which heal the pain and agony of human afflictions temporarily. Because faith without corresponding scientific practices will never fetch the cherished result. They used to pray and practice penance(Krccha Sa’dhana’) or rituals or make sacrifices of animals (Yajina) to please the deities etc. These cannot be taken as granted as ideal practices but still humans today have no rest and search is going on.
Actually the superficiality of the human mind cannot fetch him the desired goal because it remains working to fulfil the mundane needs of survival and exaggeration of individual belongings which is not the only goal of humans. They like to dive deep into the innermost recesses of their minds where the soothing serenity exists, the wisdom, the conscience, the sense of detachment and devotion; where the faculty of omniscient unfolds the effulgence of divine pervasiveness which floods the whole unit existence with the nectar of divinity. The realisation of divinity sets the goal of all human endeavours.
That’s why, it is suggested to the human beings that they must cherish to achieve the Supreme Desideratum of life and follow a comprehensive ideology which will help them move towards the fulfilment of life. The fulfilment of true achievement lies in the revelation of inner bliss in the deepest recess of one’s mind. The process is the “Path of Self-Realisation, the Path of Sa’dhana’ and Selfless Service”. The Path of Sa’dhana’ is the systematic scientific conscious process of withdrawal of one’s objectivated mind towards the subtler recess of mind. In due process the mind of a Sa’dhaka(aspirant) becomes completely introverted following the consequential synthesis of all extroverted psychic tendencies towards a singular idea of the Supreme Consciousness. As the mind is being focused on the ideation, the realisation of being ‘Great’ surfaces on the subconsciousness of the mind. The mind grows in magnitude. The arena of thinking increases and the inner vision of conscience and detachment consolidate within, the true reality of life unfolds to guide oneself and with the acknowledgement of one’s duties and responsibilities towards one’s kith and kin as well as friends and other members of society.
The confusions created in the human mind occur primarily due to its obsession with worldly things (due to ignorance, Avidya’) when it is perceived objectively with the self-interest of deriving pleasures. The mind gradually becomes objectivated as the ectoplasmic stuff becomes crude. This state of the human mind does not obey the inner directives of the conscience and one suffers the agony of confusions in the myriads of this world. That’s why, it is suggested to dive deep into one’s own inner recess of being where lies the solution beyond all the confusions and problems.
People adopt various methods to compose their minds out of individual choices. But the process of withdrawal of mind(Pratya’ha’ra Yoga) stands the most suitable means to achieve the needful. The singular purpose of entering the realm of repository of true consciousness is to realise Supreme Consciousness by one’s sincere and constant efforts which implies total submission to the Supreme Subjectivity (devotion). Realising the Supreme (Eternal) Nature of one’s being(existence) is the sense of going deep into one’s own Consciousness. As the mind dives deep, the wisdom unfolds itself and guides the subconscious realm of mind to perform wisely in the outer world with proper insights.
The aspects of training one’s mind, however, include- to practice regulating one’s breathing pattern (breathing exercises and pránáyáma) with keen observation on the breathing patterns, mindfulness (to be conscious of what you are doing at a time with a sense of propriety that what you should do), practice Yama and Niyama (Ten Principles of Morality), Sva’dhya’ya (Auto- suggestion); practice control over eight bondages (As’t’apashas), six enemies(S’ad’ripus) and six defects(Sad’-dos’a’h) of human mind; extending selfless service to the needy(Seva’); practice taking opposite stand in case of being overwhelmed by negative emotions; practice maintaining the purity of mind(Shaoca) always with the help of ideation of the Supreme (Brahma Bha’va); follow a comprehensive Ideology of life etc.
So, one should learn the proper method of Meditation (PRAYA’HA’RA – the Yogic process of withdrawal of extroverted mind) and practice routinely(at least twice a day- preferably morning and evening) adopting it as one of the essential duties in one’s life. Selfless service adds momentum to it as it purifies the mind from the filth of the lower mind, of senses. One may adopt the ideology of Sa’dhana’ and Seva’ (spiritual practices and selfless service to the needy) as the Mission of one’s life.
