Girls Proutist Delhi Sector Appeals for Global Protection of Women and Children Affected by War

PRESS RELEASE

Mumbai / New Delhi, India

The Girls Proutist Intellectual Federation (GPIF), Delhi Sector, has launched an international humanitarian appeal calling for urgent protection of women and children suffering in war-affected regions across the world.

As part of this initiative, formal letters were sent through India Post to ambassadors and diplomatic missions of several countries including the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Iran, and representatives connected with the United Nations and UNICEF. Appeals were also addressed to international agencies working for the safety and welfare of women and children, along with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and Indian organizations engaged in humanitarian and child welfare activities.

In the letter, GPIF expressed deep concern over the growing humanitarian crisis caused by wars and conflicts, particularly the devastating impact on innocent civilians. The organization highlighted that women and children are among the worst affected, facing displacement, hunger, disease, psychological trauma, exploitation, and disruption of education and healthcare.

The appeal urged governments and international institutions to support:

• Immediate ceasefires and peaceful dialogue

• Safe humanitarian corridors

• Access to food, clean water, medicine, maternity care, and shelters

• Protection of women and children from violence, abuse, and exploitation

• Adherence to international humanitarian law and humanitarian protections

• Inclusion of women in peace-building and rehabilitation efforts

• Restoration of education, emotional healing, and rehabilitation opportunities for children

The organization emphasized that hospitals, schools, refugee shelters, and humanitarian spaces must remain protected zones of safety and human dignity during times of conflict.

Speaking on the initiative, representatives of the Girls Proutist Intellectual Federation stated that peace, compassion, and human welfare must remain above political and military interests, and that the global community must unite to protect innocent lives and promote peaceful coexistence.

GPIF further clarified that this humanitarian appeal is completely non-political and does not support any government, military action, ideological position, or side in any conflict. The initiative is solely guided by humanitarian concern for the protection of human life, especially women and children affected by war.

The campaign reflects the organization’s commitment toward humanitarian values, peace, social justice, global solidarity, and universal human welfare.

Few Responses have been received – here we are presenting the letter from Ukrain Embassy

Dear Ms Singh,
The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of India acknowledges receipt of your letter concerning the situation of women and children in Ukraine.
We appreciate every sincere expression of concern for Ukrainian civilians, especially women and children, who have been suffering as a direct result of the Russian Federation’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.
At the same time, we would like to clarify that the suffering of Ukrainian women and children is not the result of an abstract “conflict”. It is the result of Russia’s deliberate and unlawful military aggression against Ukraine, including repeated attacks on civilian infrastructure, residential areas, schools, hospitals and kindergartens.
Today, Russian drones struck a kindergarten in the city of Sumy. According to Ukrainian authorities, one woman was killed and two women were injured. This is only one of many recent examples of Russia’s attacks against civilian life in Ukraine.
If your organization is genuinely committed to the protection of women and children in situations of war, we would respectfully encourage you to address your appeal first and foremost to the Embassy of the Russian Federation, urging Russia to immediately cease its aggression, stop attacks on Ukrainian civilians and withdraw its troops from the internationally recognized territory of Ukraine.
We would also encourage your organization to use its voice and good offices in India to raise awareness of the issue of Ukrainian children who have been unlawfully deported or forcibly transferred by the Russian Federation, and to support international efforts aimed at their immediate, safe and unconditional return. In this context, support by India and other partners for relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions on the return of Ukrainian children would be of particular importance.
Ukraine remains fully committed to the protection of its citizens, including women and children, and continues to work with international partners to ensure humanitarian assistance, accountability for war crimes and a just and lasting peace based on the UN Charter.
For your reference, we are sharing publicly available information on today’s Russian strike on a kindergarten in Sumy and on the UN General Assembly resolution concerning the return of Ukrainian children.
Yours sincerely,
Tetiana Sharma
