Only a few people were permitted to accompany Baba on this day. No WTs (Whole-Timers) were allowed—not PA Vishokananda, not the GS, and not the VSS in-charge. Nobody else was permitted to visit without prior permission. Very few people knew the real reason why Baba was going to Amajharia. It was His Leela.
Baba left Ranchi for Amajharia at 2:00 PM on 7 October 1970. Three Margiis, a cook, and a driver accompanied Him. They reached Amajharia at 5:00 PM.
The following day, the local Grhii Acharya, Brahmadevji, arrived there, although he knew that nobody was permitted to visit Baba. Around noon, he stood outside the premises and repeatedly called out, “Baba, Baba, Baba!” Hearing his voice, Baba asked, “Who is that?” Later, Baba permitted him to enter.
Ghasi Ramji, who worked in the government health department, had also come to Amajharia on an official tour. When he learned that Baba was staying at the Forest Guest House, he went there to seek His Darshan. However, he was not permitted to meet Baba.
Amajharia (PIN 829203) is a forested area in Latehar district, Jharkhand, India. The Forest Guest House is situated at a beautiful location, approximately 800 feet above the surrounding ground level and 1,804 feet above sea level.
On 7 October 1970, Baba began discussing the importance of Kiirtan with the Margiis.
On 8 October 1970, Baba instructed Acharya Brahmadev to practise meditation and asked him whether he could hear any sound. Brahmadevji replied that he could hear some music. Baba asked him to listen more attentively and concentrate further. After listening carefully, he reported that he could hear the words “Baba Naam.”
Baba confirmed that it was the Kiirtan “Baba Nam Kevalam.” He explained that Kinnaras, Gandharvas and other celestial beings were singing this Kiirtan. Baba told him that it was an eight-syllable Siddha Mahamantra and that Margiis should begin singing it.
Baba demonstrated how to perform this Kiirtan with the Lalita Marmika dance posture and explained how to organise Akhanda Kiirtan, the continuous chanting of the mantra.
Acharya Brahmadev then returned to the surrounding area and asked the Margiis to gather people for Akhanda Kiirtan.
For the first time on this earth, the Kiirtan began at 1:00 PM on 8 October 1970.
Soon after the chanting began, a remarkable incident occurred. Baba’s car was parked approximately 100 feet away from the Kiirtan site. Baba’s son, Gautam, noticed something unusual and hurriedly informed Baba that the car was moving towards the place where the Kiirtan was taking place. The car had moved approximately 30 feet from its original position.
Baba replied, “This Kiirtan has the power to make even inanimate objects vibrate.”
Baba then stopped the vibration of the car, and His driver moved it back to its original position.
Initially, the Kiirtan began with only a handful of Margiis. Gradually, more and more local Margiis started arriving and joining the chanting. However, no WTs were present at the Kiirtan because they had not been permitted to accompany Baba on this visit.

इस दिन केवल कुछ ही लोगों को बाबा के साथ जाने की अनुमति दी गई थी; किसी भी WT डब्ल्यूटी की अनुमति नहीं थी – न पीए विशोकानंद, न जीएस, न ही वीएसएस प्रभारी। बिना इजाजत किसी और को जाने की इजाजत नहीं थी. बाबा अमझरिया क्यों जा रहे थे, इसका बड़ा कारण कोई नहीं जानता था। यह उनकी लीला थी.
बाबा 7 अक्टूबर 1970 को दोपहर 2 बजे रांची से अमझरिया के लिए निकले। बाबा के साथ तीन मार्गी, एक रसोइया और एक ड्राइवर था। वे शाम 5 बजे अमझरिया पहुंचे. अगले दिन, स्थानीय गृही आचार्य ब्रह्मदेवजी वहां आए, हालांकि उन्हें पता था कि किसी को भी आने की अनुमति नहीं है। वह दोपहर के समय परिसर के बाहर खड़े थे और चिल्ला रहा थे, “बाबा, बाबा, बाबा।” यह सुनकर बाबा ने पूछा, “वह कौन है?”, और बाद में बाबा ने उन्हें अंदर आने की अनुमति दे दी। घासी राम जी जो सरकारी स्वास्थ्य विभाग में कार्यरत थे और अपने आधिकारिक दौरे पर अमझरिया आये थे। उन्हें पता चला कि बाबा फॉरेस्ट गेस्ट हाउस में आए थे। अतः वे बाबा के दर्शन हेतु वहाँ गये। लेकिन उन्हें बाबा से मिलने की इजाजत नहीं दी गई.

8 अक्टूबर 1970 को, बाबा ने आचार्य ब्रह्म देव को ध्यान साधना करने का निर्देश दिया और पूछा कि क्या उसे कुछ ध्वनि सुनाई दे रहा है। ब्रह्म देव जी ने बताया कि उन्हें कुछ संगीत सुनाई दे रहा है। बाबा ने उनसे और अधिक ध्यान लगाकर सुनने को कहा। फिर उसने बताया कि उसे “बाबा नाम” सुनाई दे रहा है। बाबा ने कहा हाँ, यह “बाबा नाम केवलम” कीर्तन है। किन्नर, गंधर्व आदि यह कीर्तन गा रहे थे। बाबा ने उन्हें बताया कि यह 8 अक्षरों वाला सिद्ध महामंत्र है। मार्गियों को यह कीर्तन गाना शुरू कर देना चाहिए। बाबा ने दिखा कर बताया कि इस कीर्तन को ललित मुद्रा के साथ कैसे किया जाता है और अखंड कीर्तन का आयोजन कैसे किया जाता है।
आचार्य ब्रह्मदेव आसपास के क्षेत्र में वापस गए और मार्गियों को अखंड कीर्तन के लिए लोगों को इकट्ठा करने के लिए कहा। इस धरती पर पहली बार 8 अक्टूबर 1970 को दोपहर 1 बजे कीर्तन शुरू किया गया। कीर्तन शुरू होने के बाद एक आश्चर्यजनक घटना घटी. कीर्तन स्थल से करीब 100 फीट दूर बाबा की कार खड़ी थी. बाबा के बेटे गौतम ने चौंकते हुए बाबा को बताया कि कार कीर्तन के करीब जा रही है। कार उस स्थान से लगभग 30 फीट दूर चली गई थी। बाबा ने उत्तर दिया कि “इस कीर्तन में जड़ वस्तुओं को भी vibrate (कम्पित ) करने की शक्ति है”। बाबा ने कार का vibration (कंपन) बंद कर दिया और बाबा के कार चालक ने कार को वापस उसके मूल स्थान पर चला कर रख दिया..
प्रारंभ में कीर्तन केवल कुछ मुट्ठी भर मार्गियों के साथ शुरू हुआ; धीरे-धीरे स्थानीय स्तर पर रहने वाले अधिक से अधिक मार्गी लोग आने लगे। लेकिन कोई भी WT डब्ल्यूटी कीर्तन में मौजूद नहीं था क्योंकि उन्हें बाबा के साथ आने की अनुमति नहीं थी.
