Editorial: Success of SCO summit – A Slap on Trump’s Tariff Menace!

The emergence of Mr. Trump on the horizon of the USA politics for the second time has been hot news even before he took the oath as the President of America. As if he voted a heat wave around the world making such statements which made his neighbouring countries hard and other competing economies to comply with Trump’s alleged concerns (Canada, Mexico, Panama, China etc.). After resuming his office he started the (Trump’s) Tariff war on most of the countries intending to maintain the Supreme regime of American leadership whether it is the economic supremacy or strategic wars.

Behind the Tariff clubbing of America on China, India and many other countries, the conflicting strategic interests are working. For example, India denied Trump’s role in ending its war with Pakistan and did not consent to the decision to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize which he expected from India because in the case of war between Russia and Ukraine, he could not stop the war and kept on changing his versions even after having a high level meeting with Putin in Alaska. The war is still escalating that there is a huge loss of lives and properties in Ukraine as well as Russia.

The USA always tried to keep other nations under its command which seems impossible today by the fast economically growing nations like China and India. Trump’s serious statements with cheap intentions proved him hollow and indiscriminate especially regarding concerns between India and Pakistan, Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Iran etc. India did not pay much heed to Trump’s call to Modi following the 50% tariffs on Indian goods exported to the USA and responded tit-for-tat as imports and exports are concerned.

The successful gestures of SCO Submit in China in which heads of 24 countries and nearly 400 representatives participated and discussed the global concerns on Tariffs and other multi-lateral relations on several fronts are a strong signal to Trump that no heaven is going to fall off as America imposes Tariffs to knee down the developing nations. The deepening trade relations between India and Russia, India and China and other nations has given a big jolt to Trump. Recently the American court has passed a verdict against the indiscriminate decisions of imposing Tariffs by Trump as unjustified. The common public, intelligensia and experts in the USA have started raising their voice against the decisions of Trump’s Tariff menace because the price of commodities are increasing high and the economic burden falls on its citizens. Mr. Putin’s special session of discussion with Mr. Modi reiterated the deepening bilateral trade and cultural relations on the backdrop of American Tariffs whether it is petroleum, setting industries, factories for aircraft and missiles with transferring complete technology etc. China, though an unbelievable friend to India, has opened its doors for Indian businessmen to export goods with minimal duties keeping all conflicting border disputes behind.

In all, the SCO Submit has proved a significant landmark in polarising the nations against the Tariff Menace of Trump’s America. Let us hope for the best that it is the prime time to have a rational decision to help substantiate the economies of developing nations with rational gestures by the big economies in the favour of humanity in general.
