Human beings are the most evolved existence in this universe. The independence of the mind in its functioning, making decisions, conceptualising an idea and implementing them, developing institutions to manifest them sustainably, aspire to survive and having vision for a bright future etc. are some noble attributes humans have been gifted by the Supreme Creator. These positive psychic faculties make them distinct from any underdeveloped lower species on this earth. Moreover, they help us to define the innate characteristics of humans and the correct approach to live life as being true humans by pursuing the path of Self- realisation .
The human mind has the potential to coin beautiful ideas and that is why they are able to create beautiful things and a congenial environment to live in. They can visualize dreams, deliberate thoughts diligently. The miraculous sense of creativity makes them second to the Supreme Creator. The faculty of Conscience has a remarkable stimulus within which is able to help in making discreet decisions in life. Moreover, it opens the door for higher realisations in life and stays intact with the cherished ideology which makes life beautiful, happy and truly blissful.
Man possesses the faculty of insights. He/she is visionary. One can visualise the situations and act accordingly. He/she can make human existence progressively better. But we humans are not perfect. We are full imperfections. It is due to inconsistency in thoughts and in making proper decisions due to lack of proper understanding of the situations and circumstances at a time.
The mind adapts the circumstances and acts accordingly being influenced by the external stimuli, haphazard in character, makes the mind indiscriminate but catalysed to act promptly that spoils everything! It results in distractions in thoughts and fluctuations in behavioural patterns. Lack of consistency and sequencing in thoughts and behaviour makes him/her puzzle and succumb to the external pressure which inhibits the inner sense of propriety that leads to stress, anxiety and depression. The mind becomes weak under the influence of reactions of impropriety in speech and actions taken in haste without conscientious decisions when overpowered by the lower and belligerent tendencies. The confusion of the lower mind, the grossly objectivated mind, flows mostly beta waves with more frequency makes the mind restless. It is the reactionary state of mind with corresponding extroverted tendencies as inspiration to react. It does not let the inner mind to sense the situations properly and act accordingly. The process of decision- making is then supported by logic, a process of justification of actions prompted. Another cause of discriminate decisions is the ideology which one cherishes in life. The ideology forms the individuality of a man with logical justification according to the cherished ideology. A man of materialistic ideology will always justify taking control of the means of production and dominate in the world economies by exploiting the common mass in the name of social equality. However, the self-centred ideologists would prefer to sustain the economic gap between the rich and the poor and continue their exploitative menace to maximize the profits. They don’t care for the pitiable conditions of common mass except spoon feeding them to survive. Thus ‘proper ideology’ works as a great inspiration to practice proper understanding in life.
In personal life, understanding plays a vital role. As we know that behind all confusions, lack of proper understanding remains the main cause. Misunderstanding happens due to doubts and miscommunication which builds a big gap between close relations. It provokes discrimination in relationships which ultimately leads to bitterness and animosity. It breaks the tinets of friendship, disintegrates individual and collective family; affects adversely business associations and partnerships in social, socio-economic and political perspectives.
‘Understanding’ signifies appreciating and respecting the opinions or mindset of fellow colleagues with proper deliberations on certain viewpoints in making decisions. There may be agreement and disagreement to reach a consensus through open deliberations but the conclusion must be in favour of everyone’s interests.
Understanding hails from the ‘expanded awareness of the mind’. One cannot understand if he /she tries to justify one’s opinion as correct. The measurement of ‘Understanding’ is ”the welfare of both the parties’ or “the welfare of all.” It involves sacrificing the individuals’ interest in the greater interests of the society to avoid unnecessary clashes and end in non- productive reactions. In the same way, all types of negotiations take place when a reasonable understanding is facilitated between or among the parties.
The reason behind inequalities, disparities and imbalances as well as exploitations and corruption in family and society is the lack of ‘proper understanding’ (expanded awareness with benevolence in thoughts and actions). The idea of the Cosmic Brotherhood paves the way for developing proper understanding to have proper adjustment with everything in mundane life with the significant approach to the Supreme Fulfilment in life.
In my opinion, human beings must be taught the lesson of proper Understanding in life since childhood to make happy adjustments with everything and everyone in all circumstances. The “Cardinal Principles of Worldly Adjustment and Psychic Regulation” (Principles of Morality, i.e. Yama and Niyama) along with Yogic Practices (Meditation) must be taught and practised from one’s childhood. This would be the relevant key to success in life as compulsory remedial to set right all sorts of confusions and chaos in facing the challenges in life. It will certainly help humanity to rise above the self-vested interests, the self-centric psychology and the sense of pervasiveness will flow within which orients in safeguarding the interests of one and the all. All the confusions and problems at micro and macro level will easily be sorted out and it will check the uprising of further confusions. The overall progress of humanity will be accelerated by mani- fold.
