The recent disturbing images of the two heads of state (U.S. and Ukraine), squabbling in front of the cameras, throw out the rule books of diplomacy into the dustbin. The diplomats and Statesmen hang their heads in shame. Is this the New world order we are ushering in?
Now, let us get a Bird’s Eye view over the past three to five years:
- Changes in the Middle East-Israel, Gaza, Syria, Qatar, Iran, Yemen are in the news for one reason or other.
- In our own neighborhood Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan and now Bangladesh seem to be experiencing seismic changes.
- India seems to be fighting its own battles from enemies within and outside.
There is turmoil and tremors beneath the calm surface; Sometimes fully visible, sometimes partially visible and sometimes invisible. What is unmistakable is that the world sits on the precipice of an uncertain future or something far worse.
So many symptoms, But the cause seems to be one-Greed of the human mind to dominate and exploit-Greed for Power, money and resources. ‘Yakshas’ prey on the materialistic mind and seem to have made the materialistic mind its dance floor!
Two philosophies seem to be trying to maintain the status quo of a bipolar world. Russia and China represent one pole and the United States the other. Russia seems to be dreaming of becoming the King of the Eastern block again and if not that, at least, trying to seize the USSR of the post-World War II back. Russia and US fail to comprehend that the world has moved away from those concepts. Both have become toothless and old snakes and hence, seem to be conspiring together-Two archrivals coming together to prey on a weak animal.
Communist China, wearing a capitalist hat is a threat to the old world order. It is easy to fight a Wolf but rather hard to defeat a Wolf in sheep’s clothing.
The world seems to be celebrating failure of all defective philosophies that couldn’t address power struggles, economic exploitation, and instability. (Vishubdha-shudra era)
A common person Loses his or her sleep thinking over these crises with no solution in sight. Even the well meaning, moral, thoughtful individual might find it hard to escape the sway of their own Geo/Socio sentiments.
In such a situation, How does one burnish their own rationality, reason and Compassion for all Creatures Irrespective of caste, creed Race and gender?
