Lord Sadashiva said, “Varttamanes’u Varttet.” That is, “Live in the present.” What is the Present? We know that there are three relative factors; time, place and person. Among the three, the ‘time’ is the most important factor. What is the ‘time’? Time is the mental measurement of the motivity of an action. An action is performed by the mind. When the waves of different wavelengths come in contact with the organs, the mind perceives only those vibrations which come under the capacities of organs to perceive. All the manifested phenomena of the Creation do not come under the periphery of perception by the organs. When the external crude vibrations are perceived by the organs and reflected on the mind, the mind recons their motivity. The measurement of the motivity of action stands for the mental calculation of its temporal significance, and the limitations of its giving pleasure to the mind. If it does not produce recurring pleasure to satisfy the mind, it rejects it and aspires for an another object of necessity as per its requirements. That is, the efficacy or the potentiality of an object as perceived by the mind determines the significance of its utility. The whole process of perception of material vibrations/ inferences in respect to its potentiality to satisfy (action and reaction) human desires thus signifies the relevance of ‘time’.

The human mind is a reflected consciousness which desires to sustain, grow, expand and realize the true nature of ‘self’ that signifies its existence and the very purpose of existence. When an action is performed, it is called ‘Present’ but the very next moment that action becomes the action of ‘Past’ and it continues to be the base of Future action. Thus the convergence of the past and the future is called the present. We can say that the present usually becomes the past and the action which is yet to be performed is supposed to happen in future waiting for its fruition.
Past is the action performed. It records the chronology of events already happened. We deliberate on the incidents happened in the past. We learn from the Past. It is duly related to the Present. But, should we live upon the Past even though it is very rejoicing? No. The actions performed in the Past can give us a message (on analysis) to improve our actions which are to be performed in the Present. Just thinking of the past makes us static, inactive in both the cases if it was glorious or doomed. One may be fully satisfied eulogizing the good deeds of one’s Past. On the contrary, one may be discouraged to take further positive steps after failures in endeavours to achieve something positive. One should not postpone the actions of the Present to rely upon the Future because there is a flow and movement in the objective phenomena. It is not something static. The Future always becomes Past through the gateway of the Present.
The Present represents the action whether good or evil. The whole Creation is a flux. It is moving from the electronic imperfection to Sublime perfection. So, it is imperative to think positive and take on positive actions to achieve new milestones as the evil deeds throw oneself into evil consequences which are painful to reap. The actions which are yet to be realized, in respect to time, is called the Future. That is why, the Present is the most important moment in life which signifies positive actions. The Future ultimately should be based on the actions of the Present. The Present determines the future course.
Life represents the action. One must plan before performing any action. Our actions must be well planned and well motivated by the Supreme Ideology. One may plan to destroy the fabrics of life on this planet by creating the means of mass destruction which goes against the purpose of the Creation. So a comprehensive Ideology is essentially required in human life. Ideology always inspires and guides human endeavours to move on the path of righteousness. The past gives you inspiration to introspect into one’s performed deeds and the future awaits the fruition to be expressed in the present. So the Present is the action and the result oriented which is the most important segment of Time for our meaningful existence. For positive actions the human mind must be inspired by the propriety of action.
