Ananda Sutram Chapter 5 (Social Philosophy)
Sutra 1 was given by Baba Jan. 1, 1955, in His discourse,
The Gradual Evolution of Society which was published by AMPS in Subhashita Samgraha Part-1.
Four years later He further elaborated it on Jun 04, 1959, in Senior Tattvika Training Camp at Jamalpur; Published in Idea and Ideology by AMPS.
Sutra 2 to 7 was given in 1956-57, exact date unknown, published by AMPS in Human Society Part 1.
He elaborated all His talks of Social Thoughts on Jan 26, 1958, the Republic Day of India, at Trimuhan, Bhagalpur, Bihar on the occasion of the foundation of Renaissance Universal. It was published by AMPS in the booklet Problems of the Day.
Then He advanced the discussion even further during the Senior Tattvika Training Camp from May 27 to June 05, 1959 held at Jamalpur, Bihar. These have been published in Idea and Ideology.
Sutra 8 can be found in His discourse on Saturday, Jan 01, 1955, The Gradual Evolution of Society. Then, later on Senior Tattvika training completion talks on June 05, Published by AMPS in Idea and Ideology.
Sutra from 9 to 16
He gave Sutras 9 to 16 on June 05, 1959, on the last day of Senior Tattvikas Training Camp at Jamalpur. Here in this talk He used the name Prout and Proutist for the first time; and He also used the words calling it the Progressive Social Order. All of it Published in Idea and Ideology dated June 05, 1959; Accordingly, June 05 becomes the Prout Day.
This concludes the chronology of the main Ideological Principles. Of course, later many more aspects of Prout were added by Him during seminars and other discourses, all of which were included with date in the 22 volumes of Prout in a Nutshell which were all published during His Physical presence.
CHRONOLOGY OF ELECTIONS
Baba talks about elections for the first time during the said, Senior Tattvika Training Camp held at Jamalpur and the same is published in Idea and Ideology.
From Oct 17 to 22, 1959, First Prout Convention was held. During this Prout Convention Baba addressed the gathering on Oct 21, 1959, and said, “Our Intellectual Revolution is of Democratic nature. Proutists are to make people conscious of their rights and demands. And this is to be done by….
- “Study Circle and Popularizing Ideological Literature, (For improved and correct understanding of the Ideological contents of Prout. First phase of Intellectual preparedness stands for ideological preparation.)
- “Platform propaganda and mobilizationfor raising ideological consciousness in the masses. Masses can never be fully Ideologically educated. So, it has to continue forever.
- “Proutist support of Sadvipras in the democratic fight that is helping them occupying seats in the Parliament, States Assembly, Local Government and Cooperative etc.”

VARIOUS PROUT INSPIRED AFFILIATE MOVEMENTS AND PROUTIST UNIVERSAL
1960 to 1967: Progressive Federation of India (PFI) and Progressive Bloc of India (PBI).
1967 to 1977: PFI’s Name changed to Proutist Forum of India.
These organizations were inspired by PROUT but never been affiliated with Proutist Universal.
Sep. 14, 1959, Proutist Students Federation, which later become (UPSF) was founded in the evening of during Shravani Purnima DMS at Motihari, Bihar.
Sept 15, 1959, announced to this effect was made before the gathering, in public. Hence September 15 becomes the UPSF Foundation Day.
Jan 1965, New Year Day, Proutist Intellectual Federation, which later become (UPIF) was founded at Ranchi.
May 1965, Ananda Purnima, Proutist Youth Federation was formed which later became (UPYF),
Proutist Farmers Federation later became (UPFF) and Proutist Labor Federation, later became (UPLF) were founded at Ranchi.
Jul 1965, UPLF got registered under Trade Union Act in Delhi.
Jan 01, 1978, UPLA Universal Proutist Legal-Aid Association was founded at Patna, Baba was still in Bankipore Central Prison.
Baba was incarcerated in Dec. 1971, and He was released on August 02, 1978.
Ananda Purnima May 1977, Baba banned PBI as well as PFI for members of Ananda Marga and founded a Socio-Cultural & Educational entity, PU (Proutist Universal), with its Head Quarters declared originally to be located at Stockholm, Sweden. (Later decision was made for shifting the Head Quarters to Copenhagen, Denmark.)
Upon the defeat of Mrs. Gandhi and her ruling Indian National Congress Party in the General Elections in 1977, the Internal Emergency and Banning Orders on Ananda Marga and its related organizations were revoked in March 1977. But Baba was still waiting in jail for a review of His case by Patna High Court. He was released with full honor on Aug 02,1978.
Girls Proutists (GP) was founded with Baba’s blessings on August 4, 1978, after Baba was brought to a rented House at New Patliputra Colony (Patna) for resting and recuperating upon His release from Bankipore Central Prisons on Aug 02, 1978.
Baba was very pleased and comforted with the work done by Ladies and enthusiastic Girls working for Proutist Universal in receiving Him and elaborately arranging for His stay, upkeep, and recuperation. Girls Proutists was defined as the female branch of Proutist Universal with identical structure managed and administered by Girls and Women only leadership at all levels, extending from village community up to Global levels.
1978-1990, and onwards, Proutist Universal offices were established in New Delhi, India; Copenhagen, Denmark; Washington, DC, USA; Porto Alegre; Brazil, Frankfurt, Germany; Manila, Philippines; Taipei, Taiwan; Sydney, Australia; and Nairobi, Kenya, and Qahira in the Middle-East.
GLOBAL CONVENTIONS OF PROUTIST UNIVERSAL:
Proutist Universal started organizing and conducting its conventions (mainly European) annually since 1978.
Baba advised to Organizing Global Conventions of PU. Accordingly, with His Blessings,
- 1981, Aug 06, the First Global Convention of PU was held in Brittany, France.
- 1982the Second Global Convention was held in the Philippines
- 1983The Third Global Convention was held in the Mexico
- 1984The Fourth Global Convention was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- 1986The Fifth Global Convention was held in Germany
- 1987The Sixth Global Convention was held at Los Banos, the Philippines.
- 1988The Seventh Global Convention was held at Ananda Kanan, the USA
- 1989The Eighth Global Convention was held at Porto Alegre, Brazil
- 1990The Ninth Global Convention was held at Copenhagen, Denmark
- 1991The Tenth Global Convention was held at Monterrey (Mexico)
- 1992The Eleventh Global Convention was held at Porto Alegre, Brazil
- 1994at Ananda Suruchi, Taipei

May 1985 upon thorough review in half yearly general meeting, PU was found to have very poorly failed in fulfilling its targets and goals. Proutist Universal changed its name to USP (Universal Service Prout) for some time until Dec 1985.
Jan 1986, Proutist Universal re-emerged with revised zeal...
1986, Ananda Purnima, PU became very activate with the new energy.
Oct 1986 Baba held a 90 minutes one to one Personal Session with the PU Global Organizing Secretary, entailing Economic Democracy of Prout, instructed him to go to the USA and give introductory seminars all over America. With His Blessings and by His Grace he gave 16 seminars all over the USA in 20 days and returned to report. With the introduction of Economic Democracy, a new impetus started in the Prout movement.
POLITICAL MOVEMENTS INSPIRED BY PROUT:
PBI was founded in 1967 with His blessings at Patna Bihar; it was registered as a political party in 1968 by Shrii Shashi Ranjan ji as its First Chairman of PBI. Shri Pradyumna Narayan ji mentioned that First Conference of PBI was held at Mokama, Bihar. Shrii Pradyumna Narayan ji contested elections in 1970 as PBI candidate.
Nov. 21-23, 1969, First National conference of PBI was held at Tal-Katora Bagh, Delhi with Shrii Shashi Ranjan ji and its Chairman Tapas Banerji ji was appointed as the General Secretary.
Jul 27-28, 1972, The Second PBI Convention was held at Sahitya Sammelan Bhavan, Gardani Bagh, Patna; Baba was still incarcerated in Patna. Shri CD Munshi became its Second Chairman.
May 1977, PBI along with PFI was banned for members of Ananda Marga by Baba when He was still in jail. PBI and PFI were never mentioned. Its registration was never renewed.
(Baba was not at all pleased with the activities of PBI. He was very much annoyed and expressed His concern and anguish very forcefully saying, “They do not make 5 sympathizers, friends or well-wishers while always definitely create 50 enemies for us everywhere.”)
NO CONVENTIONS / CONFERENCES OF PROUTIST BLOC INDIA WERE EVER HELD AFTER MAY 1977
Baba founded 44 Samaja programs, describing them as Socio-Economic-Cultural Movements for mass education on practical side of PROUT.
Shrii Pradyumna Narayan ji contested Elections Second time in 1989 as an Angika Samaj candidate because PBI was banned.
SAMAJ (SOCIAL) MOVEMENTS
Aug 02, 1978, Baba came out of jail.
Dec 30, 31 1978, DMC was held at Harding Park, Patna on and January 01, 1979. During the DMC Baba was staying in Patliputra Hotel where He described the concept of Samaj movement for India and the rest of the world.
Jan 01, 1979, all 44 Samajas of India continuing to exist from Mahabharata period were named by Baba, and the same were announced before public at Harding Park Patna.
Jan 6, 1979, i.e., after the DMC Baba gave elaborate historical perspectives of the 5 Samajas of Bihar including Bhojpuri, Angika, Maithili, Magahi and Nagpuria before a huge gathering of Prout workers assembled at Public Gate Library, Patna, Bihar.
Feb 10-11, 1979, Baba was on tour by road, and He stayed at Mokama on the way. There He explained at length and helped to finalize complete details of the 5 Samajas of Bihar, including geographical, boundaries, flags etc. of each of them. It was announced before all field PROUT workers and cadres present.
1987-88 Samaja movement gained momentum. Samajas in India were categorized in A, B and C listings. Category A consisted of 12 Samajas, including all Samajas of East Area, as well as Chhattisgarhi Samaja, Tamil Nādu Samaja and Karnataka Samaja.
1987-89: It was decided to register all A category Samajas as Political Parties due to their high public impact. First of all, Amra Bengali Samaja got registered as a Political Party with the Election Commission of India by Advocate Shrii Shankar Ganguli from Kolkata, followed by Chhattisgarhi Samaja by Shrii Anil Dube from Raipur and Tamil Samaja by Shrii Bhakta Vatsalam from Salem, Tamil Nadu. These registrations were done under the guidance from Proutist Sarva Samaj Samiti in 1987-89.

PROUTIST SARVA SAMAJA SAMITI (PSSS)
Jul 4-5, 1979, Proutist Sarva Samaja Samiti (PSSS) was founded at Purnea, Bihar. First President was Shrii Shashi Ranjan ji (earlier the president of PBI), and First General Secretary Ac. Raghunath ji.
Nov 22-23, 1979; First National Convention of Proutist Sarva Samaja Samiti (PSSS) was held at Ramlila maidan, Delhi. Over 50,000 strong gathering from all of 44 Samajas (Socio-Economic-Cultural) units of India participated.
memorandum by the PSSS was submitted to the President of India.
Jul 1987, the Second National Convention of PSSS took place at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi. Memorandum was submitted to the President of India requesting him to reconstitute the Provincial States in India along people’s historic Socio-Economic & Cultural background (Samaja) and that accordingly there should be 44 states in India. About 80,000 people from 35 Samajas participated. Huge publicity given in the print media.
1988, Mahila Samaj and GP National Rally was held in Delhi.
Jan 26, 1994, in its Annual General Meeting decision was taken to get PSSS registered as a national Political Party.
Feb 02, 1994, Application was filed to this effect, by Ac. Raghunath Ji, the General Secretary of PSSS, before the Election Commission of India, New Delhi praying to Register PSSS as an all-India Political Party which was accepted.
Nov 24, 1994, The Election Commission of India approved the application, PSSS became a full-fledged All India Political Party.
(Now, how could Ac. Raghunath ji still be an officer of PBI when he himself got PSSS registered with the same Election Commission of India? One cannot administer two legit political parties at the same time!)
Oct 16, 2000, Name of the political entity was modified as PSS, (Proutist Sarva Samaj). Since then, the political entity is known as Proutist Sarva Samaja (Party).
May 30, 2003, Shrii Jai Prakash Bhai from Etah, (U.P., INDIA) became the Chairman of PSS. Upon his submission, all 44 Samajas of India were successfully included and accepted as affiliates of the PSS, by the Election Commission of India.
17 Nov 2013 – Dharna to raise demand for samaja at Jantar Mantar, Delhi.
15 – 17 Nov 2019 – Proutist Universal National Convention held at Patna.
26 Oct 2020 – Archana Gupta contested election from magahi samaja.
25 Sep 2023 – Dharna at Jantar Mantar, Delhi.
