बात उन दिनों की है: पीछे मुड़कर देखने की जरूरत नहीं है।

In 1969, when Baba was in Ranchi, he gave several practical demonstrations on concepts found in Yoga, Tantra, and the Vedas. These demonstrations were not only meant to inspire the sadhakas, but also to help them gain deeper knowledge of these subjects, so that they could make further progress in their spiritual practice. In those days, Baba would give one or another demonstration almost every day.

On that particular day, around twenty to twenty-five margiis were present at the Ranchi Jagriti. Baba came to the Jagriti for General Darshan at about 11 o’clock. That day, Baba gave a discourse on “Sutreshvara” and “Sutratma.” Both of these terms are mentioned in the Vedas.

Baba had just begun the discourse when four margii brothers arrived from the Philippines under the leadership of Dr. Cunanan. Dr. Cunanan was the national poet of the Philippines. They had come directly from Ranchi airport to the ashram, and as soon as they learned that Baba had already sat for General Darshan, they came straight into the hall.

Baba recited a Vedic shloka in which both terms appeared and then began explaining it. Baba said that when the soul remains connected with the mind in the form of a subtle thread and functions as an external observer, it is called “Sutreshvara”; and when it acts as an internal observer, it is called “Sutratma.” Baba explained the theoretical aspects of these concepts in detail.

Then Baba called a sadhaka sitting in front closer to Him and said, “Sit in padmasana and concentrate your mind in the Muladhara Chakra.” Then, step by step, He instructed him to move the mind to Svadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddha, and finally to the Ajina Chakra.

When the sadhaka said, “Baba, I have placed my mind in the Ajina Chakra,” Baba touched his Ajina Chakra with His stick. The moment He touched him, the sadhaka entered into a state of samadhi.

Baba asked him, “What do you see?”

The sadhaka replied, “Baba, I can see the entire Earth.”

When Baba asked, “What all do you see?”, he began describing in detail:

“Baba, I can see the Atlantic Ocean. A large ship is moving toward the American coast. There are so many passengers on board. I can see New York City. I can see the headquarters of the U.N.O. Representatives of a certain country are speaking there. I can see Japan. I can see the city of Tokyo.”

He continued describing everything, and we all listened in amazement.

The climax came when Baba asked, “Can you also see the Philippines?”

He replied, “Yes Baba, I can also see Manila. I can see Priyadarshi Ji’s house.”

After initiation, Dr. Cunanan had been given the name Priyadarshi. The sadhaka then described in detail the house of another margii who had come with them, though I now forget his name. He continued:

“His mother is sitting on the lawn. His son is worried because he has to fill out an examination form. Inside the room, such-and-such things are placed here and there…”

He kept describing everything in detail, and that person stood there staring at Baba with eyes wide open in astonishment. This was “Sutreshvara.”

Then Baba asked another sadhaka to stand up. When he stood, Baba said to him, “Enter into his mind.”

He replied, “Baba, I have entered into his mind.”

Since the mind has no physical form, Baba then asked him, “How does the upper portion of his mind appear?”

He replied, “Baba, it appears bright and white like milk.”

Then Baba asked him to look at the lower portion. He said, “Baba, it appears somewhat dark.”

Baba then asked the standing sadhaka, “Well, have you committed some wrong actions that you repeatedly think about?”

He replied, “Yes Baba, I made some mistakes, and even though I do not wish to think about them, they repeatedly come into my mind.”

Baba then said, “There is no need to look backward. The Supreme Entity has given eyes to look forward. Look toward the Supreme Entity. There is no need to brood over what is past.”

Then Baba said, “See, today you witnessed all this through My power. In the future, hundreds among you will become spiritually powerful sages like Vishvamitra and Vashishtha. Tomorrow I will tell you some interesting things about Maharshi Vashishtha and Maharshi Vishvamitra.”

1969 में, जब बाबा रांची में थे, उस समय बाबा ने योग, तंत्र और वेदों में आई कई धारणाओं पर प्रायोगिक प्रदर्शन दिए। ये प्रयोग साधकों को प्रेरित करने के लिए तो थे ही, साथ-साथ इन बातों का ज्ञान भी साधकों को हो जाए, जिससे साधना में उनकी अग्रगति हो। उन दिनों बाबा रोज एक-न-एक प्रयोग दिखाते ही थे।

उस दिन हम लोग लगभग बीस-पच्चीस मार्गी रांची जागृति में थे। बाबा लगभग 11 बजे जनरल दर्शन के लिए जागृति आ गए। उस दिन बाबा ने “सूत्रेश्वर” और “सूत्रात्मा” पर प्रवचन दिया। वेदों में ये दोनों शब्द आए हैं।

बाबा प्रवचन आरंभ किए ही थे कि फिलीपीन से डॉ० कुनानन के नेतृत्व में चार मार्गी बंधु आए। डॉ० कुनानन फिलीपीन के राष्ट्रकवि थे। वे लोग रांची एयरपोर्ट से सीधे आश्रम आ गए थे और जैसे ही मालूम हुआ कि बाबा जनरल दर्शन के लिए बैठ गए हैं, वे लोग सीधे हाल में आ गए।

बाबा ने वेद का श्लोक बोला, जिसमें दोनों शब्द आए थे, और उसको समझाना आरंभ किया। बाबा ने कहा कि मन के साथ आत्मा जब सूत्र रूप में जुड़ी होती है और वह बाह्य द्रष्टा होता है, तब उसे सूत्रेश्वर कहते हैं; और जब वह आंतरिक द्रष्टा होता है, तब उसे सूत्रात्मा कहते हैं। इसके सैद्धांतिक पहलुओं पर बाबा ने विस्तार से समझाया।

फिर सामने बैठे साधक को बाबा ने निकट बुलाया और कहा कि तुम पद्मासन में बैठ जाओ और मन को मूलाधार चक्र में स्थित करो। फिर क्रम-क्रम से मन को स्वाधिष्ठान, मणिपुर, अनाहत, विशुद्ध और फिर आज्ञा चक्र में स्थित करने को कहा।

साधक के यह कहने पर कि “बाबा, मैंने मन को आज्ञा चक्र में स्थित कर लिया,” बाबा ने उसके आज्ञा चक्र को अपनी छड़ी से स्पर्श कर दिया। स्पर्श करते ही साधक समाधि की अवस्था में आ गया।

बाबा ने उससे पूछा, “क्या देख रहे हो?”

साधक ने कहा, “बाबा, मैं समूची पृथ्वी को देख रहा हूँ।”

बाबा के यह कहने पर कि “क्या-क्या देख रहे हो?”, वह विस्तार से वर्णन करने लगा — “बाबा, मैं एटलांटिक सागर को देख रहा हूँ। एक बड़ा-सा जहाज अमेरिकी तट की ओर जा रहा है। इसमें इतने यात्री बैठे हैं। मैं न्यूयॉर्क शहर देख रहा हूँ, यू.एन.ओ. का मुख्यालय देख रहा हूँ। फलाँ देश के प्रतिनिधि बोल रहे हैं। मैं जापान देख रहा हूँ, टोकियो शहर देख रहा हूँ।”

वे सब कुछ वर्णन करते जा रहे थे और हम लोग आश्चर्य से सुन रहे थे।

क्लाइमेक्स तब हो गया, जब बाबा ने पूछ दिया, “फिलीपींस भी देख रहे हो?”

उसने कहा, “हाँ बाबा, मैं मनीला भी देख रहा हूँ। प्रियदर्शी जी का घर देख रहा हूँ।”

दीक्षा के बाद डॉ० कुनानन का नाम प्रियदर्शी दिया गया था। उनके साथ आए एक साधक, जिनका नाम मैं भूल रहा हूँ, उनके घर को विस्तार से बताया। वे बोले जा रहे थे — “उनकी माँ लॉन में बैठी हैं। उनके बेटे को किसी परीक्षा का फार्म भरना है, जिसके लिए वह चिंतित है। उनके कमरे के भीतर कहाँ क्या है,” सब चीजों को विस्तार से बताते जा रहे थे। वह व्यक्ति आश्चर्य से विस्फारित नेत्रों से बाबा को देखे जा रहा था। यही सूत्रेश्वर थे।

फिर बाबा ने एक दूसरे साधक को खड़े होने को कहा। वह खड़ा हो गया। बाबा ने फिर उससे कहा, “तुम इसके मन के भीतर प्रवेश करो।”

उसने कहा, “बाबा, मैं इसके मन के भीतर प्रवेश कर गया।”

मन का कोई भौतिक आकार तो होता नहीं, तो बाबा उससे बोले, “इसके मन का ऊपर वाला भाग कैसा दिख रहा है?”

उसने कहा, “बाबा, दूध की तरह उज्ज्वल दिख रहा है।”

फिर नीचे भाग को देखने को कहा, तो उसने कहा, “बाबा, कुछ-कुछ कालिमा लिए दिख रहा है।”

बाबा ने फिर खड़े साधक से सवाल किया, “क्यों जी, कुछ पाप किए हो, जिसका चिंतन तुम बार-बार करते हो?”

इस पर उसने कहा, “हाँ बाबा, मुझसे कुछ गलती हो गई है, जो न चाहते हुए भी बार-बार मेरे स्मरण में आ जाता है।”

इस पर बाबा ने कहा, “पीछे मुड़कर देखने की जरूरत नहीं है। परम पुरुष ने आँख आगे देखने के लिए दी है। परम पुरुष को देखो। जो गया, उस पर चिंतन करने की जरूरत नहीं है।”

फिर बाबा ने कहा, “देखो, अभी तो तुम लोगों ने मेरी शक्ति से इसे देखा। भविष्य में तुम लोगों में से सैकड़ों की संख्या में विश्वामित्र और वशिष्ठ जैसे शक्ति-संपन्न ऋषि होवोगे। कल महर्षि वशिष्ठ और महर्षि विश्वामित्र के विषय में कुछ रोचक बातें बताऊँगा।”
