FROM BABA 101 STORIES
You know one day they all went for reporting at the Jodhpur Park Office. Then Dada D was fanning Baba from the side, and they were sitting in front. Baba ask Dada D, “What were you thinking ten years ago when you were massaging my feet?”
I don’t know, Baba, Dada said.
“Don’t you remember? While you were massaging, you were thinking that Baba’s feet and hands are very soft, and that you wish Baba would make yours soft also.”
Dada D was ashamed, “Yes, Baba,” he said. A long time ago I had that desire, but now no more.
“You are a devotee. If you have a desire, I have to fulfill it.”
“No, Baba, I will never think about that anymore, I promise”
Baba touched Dada’s palm with the cane and then Baba told them to check. They all touched his palms; they were extremely soft.
Baba’s mood became very serious. Why have such tiny desires? You should have a very, very big desire only to get Parama Purusa. If you have a desires for gold or jewels, you may or may not get them. If you do get them, it is only temporary, so what is the benefit? Best is to desire Parama Purusa. Isn’t it foolish to desire for small things?”
Yes, Baba. They all said.
Then Baba went on to tell a story:
That one so-called guru had the desire to have a sandalwood smell coming from his body. He got it, and he became very famous. But after awhile he forgot Parama Purusa and became selfish and egoistic. He bragged about his power to everyone. Soon the sandalwood smell disappeared and he began to smell like cow dung. All of his disciples left him, thinking he was a liar and a fake.
“Under no circumstances,” Baba said, “should you ask for anything less than Parama Purusa. If you get Him, you get everything.”

एक दिन वे सब जोधपुर पार्क ऑफिस में रिपोर्टिंग के लिए गए थे। तब दादा डी बगल से बाबा को पंखा झल रहे थे, और वे सामने बैठे थे। बाबा ने दादा डी से पूछा, “दस साल पहले जब तुम मेरे पैरों की मालिश कर रहे थे, तब तुम क्या सोच रहे थे?”
मुझे नहीं पता, बाबा, दादा ने कहा।
“क्या तुम्हें याद नहीं है? मालिश करते समय तुम सोच रहे थे कि बाबा के पैर और हाथ बहुत नरम हैं, और तुम चाहते हो कि तुम्हारे पैर और हाथ भी नरम हो जाएँ।”
दादा डी शर्मिंदा हुए, “हाँ, बाबा,” उन्होंने कहा। बहुत समय पहले मेरी भी यही इच्छा थी, लेकिन अब नहीं।
“तुम भक्त हो। अगर तुम्हारी कोई इच्छा है, तो मुझे उसे पूरा करना ही होगा।”
“नहीं, बाबा, मैं अब कभी इस बारे में नहीं सोचूँगा, मैं वादा करता हूँ”
बाबा ने बेंत से दादा की हथेली को छुआ और फिर बाबा ने उन्हें जाँचने के लिए कहा। उन सबने उनकी हथेलियाँ छूईं; वे बहुत नरम थीं।
बाबा का मूड बहुत गंभीर हो गया। “इतनी छोटी-छोटी इच्छाएँ क्यों? तुम्हें परमपुरुष को पाने की बहुत-बहुत बड़ी इच्छा रखनी चाहिए। यदि तुम्हें सोने या रत्नों की इच्छा है, तो तुम्हें वे मिल भी सकते हैं या नहीं भी। यदि मिल भी जाते हैं, तो वे केवल अस्थायी होते हैं, तो फिर लाभ क्या है? परमपुरुष की इच्छा करना ही सर्वोत्तम है। क्या छोटी-छोटी चीजों की इच्छा करना मूर्खता नहीं है?”
हाँ, बाबा। सबने कहा।
फिर बाबा ने एक कहानी सुनाई:
एक तथाकथित गुरु को इच्छा थी कि उसके शरीर से चंदन की सुगंध आए। उसे वह मिल गई, और वह बहुत प्रसिद्ध हो गया। लेकिन कुछ समय बाद वह परमपुरुष को भूल गया और स्वार्थी तथा अहंकारी हो गया। उसने सभी के सामने अपनी शक्ति का बखान किया। जल्द ही चंदन की गंध गायब हो गई और वह गोबर की तरह महकने लगा। उसके सभी शिष्य उसे झूठा और नकली समझकर छोड़कर चले गए।
बाबा ने कहा, “किसी भी परिस्थिति में तुम्हें परमपुरुष से कम कुछ नहीं मांगना चाहिए। यदि तुम उसे पा लोगे, तो तुम्हें सब कुछ मिल जाएगा।”
