Editorial : Another Milestone in Global Recognition in the Interest of Humanity!

Congratulation to all readers that 21st December has been declared, an International Meditation Day by UN

Spiritual practices have been the core of India’s pristine civilization. The research and discoveries have been made down to the ages on the land of India to realise the self transcending the hovering and wavering mind with worldly occupations. The Vedic and Tantrika scriptures and other ancient scriptures were the compilations of inner realizations made by Yogiis and Rs’is. Even today those ancient traditions of spiritual practices are alive in different forms. We can say that Spirituality is the Pra’n’a Dharma of India. Indian spiritual cults which were developed from time to time spread widely and got accepted by people all over the world.

The UN General Assembly already declared June 21 as ‘International Yoga Day’ which has created a new wave of resurgence into good health and balanced mind among humanity of the world. And very recently another epoch-making declaration has been made by the UN to declare ‘December 21’ as the “International Meditation Day”. The epithet came into being by the unanimous decision of 193- member General Assembly of the UN following to mark the foundation day of ‘Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh’ on December 21, 1925 by KB Hedgewar, the founder.

There is a good sense behind taking such a decisions to felicitate our days of life. As we are moving on with the development of science and technology, the human capabilities have been increased many-fold to achieve the worldly targets. Life has become easier on one hand, but on the other hand it has become more complicated and still tougher. These days family disintegration is on increase; social relationships have been superficially overburdened. Economic uncertainties in times of global conflicts among nations to safeguard their own interests have negative impacts on the mind of people. Everybody wants peace and everlasting solutions.

Meditation is a methodical practice to help maintain the equilibrium of mind as well as find out solutions to the problems of day to day life. Meditation is to relax and refresh the human mind to develop insights to organise worldly affairs beyond the worldly confusions. Ultimately it guides humans to find out and realise the undercurrent devotional flow within, the universal oneness and love towards all created beings, the ultimate secret of human life.

Anyways, it is wise on the part of humanity to declare ‘December 21’ as the “International Meditation Day” (Vishva Dhya’na Divas) which will inspire people to take up Meditation as the regular and mandatory practice in their lives for their well-being in all respects. It is an affirmative and inspiring step by the most represented global forum towards a glorious future on the part of humanity on the Earth today.
