💛बाबा का बहु-भाषा ज्ञान 💛

आचार्य चिदानन्द अवधूत के दक्षिण में एक दीक्षा-भ्राता थे – रामचंद्र जी। वे अधिक पढ़े-लिखे नहीं थे, तिस पर भी वे दक्षिण की लगभग सारी भाषाएं बोलना जानते थे। उन्हें तेलुगु, तमिल, मलयालम, तुलु, कोंकणी, कन्नड़, कुर्गी बोलनी आती थी। इसके अलावा वे मराठी व हिन्दी भी बोल लेते थे। सिन्धी तो उनकी मादरी जुबान थी ही। जब भी दादा लोग उनके सामने बाबा के बहु-भाषा-ज्ञान के बारे में कहते थे, तो रामचंद्रजी समझते कि अपने गुरु के गुणों का अत्यधिक अतिरंजित प्रशंसा करना प्रचारकों का स्वभाव होता है। उन्हें बाबा के बहु-भाषा ज्ञान पर कतई विश्वास नहीं हुआ। बैंगलोर में 1964/65 में बाबा का धर्ममहाचक्र आयोजित था। रामचंद्रजी भी उस आयोजनार्थ आए हुए थे।

जब वे प्रथम साक्षात्कार के लिए बाबा के कक्ष में गये तो बाबा से पूछा कि आपको कौन-कौन सी भाषा आती है? बाबा ने उत्तर दिया कि “मैं दुनिया की सारी भाषाएं जानता हूं। पर मैं सिर्फ तीन भाषाओं में – अंग्रेजी, हिन्दी व बंगला में बातचीत करता हूं।” जब बाबा ने कहा “मैं दुनिया की सारी भाषाएं जानता हूं” – इस वाक्य का विश्व की लगभग हर भाषा में बाबा अनुवाद करके सुनाये, तो रामचंद्रजी आश्चर्यचकित व रोमांचित हो गये और उन्हें विश्वास हो गया कि बाबा के बहु-भाषा-ज्ञान पर दादा कोई अतिश्योक्ति नहीं करते हैं। संग-संग उनके अपने दक्षिणी भाषाओं  के ज्ञान का गर्व भी चूर-चूर हो गया।

कालांतर में दादा चिदानंद जर्मनी में प्रचार कर रहे थे। उन्होंने • जर्मनी के एक नये साधक को बाबा के बहुभाषा ज्ञान के बारे में बताया, तो उसे विश्वास नहीं हुआ। दादा से पूछा कि क्या बाबा • जर्मन भाषा भी जानते हैं? तो दादा ने कहा कि वे दुनिया की

हर भाषा जानते हैं। जब वह 1980 के दशक में भारतवर्ष आया, • उसने बाबा के व्यक्तिगत सचिव से पूछा कि क्या बाबा जर्मन जानते हैं, तो पी.ए. दादा ने कहा कि जब बाबा से मिलो, तो उनसे ही पूछ लेना।

दूसरे दिन प्रातः 10 बजे उसे प्रथम साक्षात्कार का अवसर मिला। बाबा ने, स्वाभाविक है, अंग्रेजी में ही उससे सवालात किये, पर वह हर सवाल का उत्तर जर्मन में दे रहा था। बाबा अंग्रेजी में सवाल करते, वह अपनी भाषा में जवाब देता। एक उत्तर पर बाबा ने कहा कि तुम्हारा जर्मन वाक्य गलत है। उसने कहा कि मैं जर्मन का प्रोफेसर हूं, गलत जर्मन कैसे बोलूंगा? बाबा ने तब कहा कि फलां किताब के फलां पृष्ठ पढ़ोगे तो तुम्हें अपने वाक्य की गलती समझ आ जाएगी। बाबा ने यह भी बताया कि कथित पुस्तक तुम कलकत्ता की राष्ट्रीय पुस्तकालय में देख सकते हो। बाहर आते ही व्यक्तिगत सहायक से पूछने पर कि राष्ट्रीय पुस्तकालय कहां है? दादा ने एक कनिष्ठ दादा को साथ देकर उसे गंतव्य स्थान पर पहुंचा दिया। उसने वहां जाकर बाबा की बतायी हुई जर्मन व्याकरण  की पुस्तक     देखी और पुस्तक देखकर उसे अपनी गलती समझ में आ गयी। उसका सारा अहंकार वहीं ध्वस्त हो गया और बाबा के अंतर्यामित्व व बहु-भाषा ज्ञान से पूर्णतः प्रभावित हो गया।

वह जागृति में आकर व्यक्तिगत सहायक से कहा कि उसे दुबारा • बाबा से मिलना है, तो दादा ने बताया कि व्यक्तिगत सम्पर्क हर  साधक का सिर्फ एक बार होता है, पर में तुम्हें भ्रमण में बाबा के साथ भेज सकता हूं। जब सायं-भ्रमण में बाबा से दुबारा मुलाकात हुई तो उसने बाबा से कहा कि आप सही थे। उन्होंने बाबा से यह भी पूछा कि “क्या मैं भी आपकी तरह ज्ञानी बन सकता हूं?”

तो बाबा ने जवाब दिया कि यह ज्ञान तुम अध्ययन से उपलब्ध नहीं कर सकते हो। यह ज्ञान अंतर्प्रज्ञात्मक है, जो तुम अपनी गहन साधना से प्राप्त कर सकते हो। पर साधना के प्रति तुम्हारी लगन अटूट होनी चाहिए।

Baba’s multilingual knowledge

Acharya Chidananda Avdhoot had a brother from the south – Ramchandra Ji. He was not very educated, yet he knew almost all the languages of the south. He knew Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Tulu, Konkani, Kannada, Kurgi. Apart from this, he also spoke Marathi and Hindi. Sindhi was his mother tongue. Whenever the dada spoke to him about Baba’s multilingual knowledge, Ramchandra Ji understood that it is the nature of preachers to exaggerate the qualities of their Guru. He did not believe Baba’s multilingual knowledge at all. Baba’s Dharma Mahachakra was organized in Bangalore in 1964/65. Ramchandra Ji had also come for that event.

When he went to Baba’s room for the first interview, he asked Baba which languages he knew?  Baba replied, “I know all the languages of the world. But I converse only in three languages – English, Hindi and Bengali.” When Baba said, “I know all the languages of the world” – Baba translated this sentence into almost every language of the world, Ramchandraji was surprised and thrilled and he became convinced that Dada was not exaggerating on Baba’s multilingual knowledge. Along with this, his pride of his own knowledge of southern languages also got shattered.

Later, Dada Chidananda was preaching in Germany. He told a new devotee from Germany about Baba’s multilingual knowledge, who could not believe it. He asked Dada whether Baba knew German language also? Dada said that he knew every language of the world. When he came to India in the 1980s, he asked Baba’s personal secretary whether Baba knew German, to which PA Dada said that when you meet Baba, ask him.

The next day at 10 AM he got the opportunity of his first interview. Baba naturally asked him questions in English, but he was answering every question in German. Baba would ask questions in English and he would answer in his own language. On one answer Baba said that your German sentence is wrong. He said that I am a professor of German, how can I speak wrong German? Baba then said that if you read a certain page of a certain book then you will understand the mistake in your sentence. Baba also told that you can see the said book in the National Library of Calcutta.

As soon as he came out, on asking the personal assistant where is the National Library? Dada sent a junior Dada along with him to the destination. He went there and saw the German grammar book told by Baba and on seeing the book he understood his mistake. All his ego was destroyed right there and he was completely impressed by Baba’s intuition and knowledge of many languages.  He came into awakening and told the personal assistant that he wanted to meet Baba again. Dada told him that every sadhak has personal contact only once, but I can send you with Baba on his tour. When he met Baba again during the evening tour, he told Baba that he was right. He also asked Baba that “Can I also become knowledgeable like you?”

So Baba replied that you cannot acquire this knowledge by studying. This knowledge is intuitive, which you can acquire by your deep sadhana. But your devotion towards sadhana should be unwavering.
